چکیده

Maize cultivars with resistance to Striga spp. and compatible Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. strigae (FOS) are an economical, sustainable environmentally control option. This study's objective was determine the type magnitude of gene action controlling grain yield yield-related components, resistance, FOS compatibility select promising maize genotypes for integrated management approach. Ninety-nine experimental hybrids, generated by a North Carolina mating design II, were evaluated without treatment at three Striga-infested sites in western Tanzania. The general (GCA), specific combining ability (SCA) effects significant (P < .05) all assessed traits except, damage ratings eight (SDR8), 10 (SDR10) weeks after planting treatment. FOS-treated progenies had fewer emerged plants than untreated controls. Parental such as SITUKA M1, TZA4010, TZA4016, TZA4203, JL01, JL05, JL13 JL17 showed negative GCA parameters positive yield. new selected parents recommended breeding.

Effect of Planting Patterns and Vermicompost on Yield and Yield Components in Maize and Beans Intercropping

Intercropping systems compared to monoculture systems can more efficiently use the existing resources which ultimately will lead to increased plant performance. Therefore, to evaluate the benefits of intercropping maize and beans and assess its impact on yield and yield’s component, an experiment was conducted in factorial design with randomized complete block design in three replication, in 20...

Evaluation of Nitrogen Fertilizer on Yield and Yield Components of Bread and Durum Wheat Genotypes

The present study aimed at investigating the effect of different levels of nitrogen on yield and yield components of bread and durum wheat. To this end the experiment was conducted in 2010-2011 in south west of Iran as split plots based on randomized complete block design with three replications. Main plot included four levels of nitrogen 60, 120, 180, 240 kg.ha-1 and the sub plot included four...
